545 - APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION OF CORPORATE NAME. This form is used by foreign profit corporations—that is, corporations formed outside of Michigan—that are not authorized and are not required to be authorized to transact business in Michigan, but still wish to reserve or protect their corporate name within the state. By filing this application with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, the corporation can register its name so that it may not be used by another entity in Michigan. The application requires basic details such as the corporation’s legal name, mailing address, jurisdiction and date of incorporation, and the type of business it conducts.
