Description
CIVIL SUMMONS. This is an official notice from the State of Tennessee Circuit Court, notifying a defendant that a civil action has been filed against them in Knox County. It instructs the defendant to file a written defense or answer with the Clerk of Court within 30 days from the date they are served. The defendant must also send a copy of their defense to the plaintiff’s attorney at the address provided. Failure to respond within this period may result in a default judgment for the relief requested in the complaint. The summons includes a Notice of Personal Property Exemption informing defendants of their right to protect up to $10,000 in personal property and a homestead exemption under Tennessee Code Annotated § 26-2-301. Defendants wishing to claim these exemptions must file a written list of exempt items under oath with the Clerk of Court before a judgment becomes final; otherwise, the exemption will not apply to any prior garnishments or executions. www.FormsWorkflow.com
