Informational Clarification Note-Invitation {PCT-ISA-207}

PCT/ISA/207, INFORMAL CLARIFICATION:NOTE/INVITATION (PCT Article 17(2) and PCT/GL/ISPE paragraphs 9.34 and 9.35). This form is used in the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) process. When an applicant files an international application under the PCT, the International Searching Authority (ISA) usually conducts a search to identify relevant prior art. If the ISA identifies prior art that it considers relevant to the claimed invention, it will issue a written opinion that sets out its findings and conclusions. If the applicant has chosen not to have an international search conducted by the ISA (under PCT Article 17(2)(a)), the ISA may still issue a Note/Invitation to provide the applicant with an informal clarification of the issues involved in the application.
