Description

MFL-250 - NOTICE OF FAMILY LAW CASE MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE AND ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE re: FAILURE TO COMPLY (California Rules of Court, Rule 5.83; Family Code § 2450; Code of Civil Procedure §§ 583.210, 583.310, and Standing Order 2025-03). This form is used in the Superior Court of California, County of Mendocino to notify parties in a family law case about an upcoming Family Law Case Management Conference (CMC) and an Order to Show Cause (OSC) hearing for failure to comply with court rules. It outlines the responsibilities of both the petitioner and respondent regarding service, filing deadlines, and required court appearances. The petitioner must serve the respondent with the Petition, Summons, and this Notice and file a Proof of Service within 60 days of initiating the case. Failure to do so will result in an Order to Show Cause hearing, where the court may impose sanctions or dismiss the case. If the respondent does not file a response within 30 days, the petitioner must take steps to obtain a default judgment to avoid unnecessary hearings. If the respondent does file a response, both parties must submit a Family Law Case Status Report (local form MFL-251) at least 15 days before the CMC, and their appearance at the CMC is mandatory unless a default judgment has been entered. The form also provides information on remote appearances and directs parties to the Self-Help Center for assistance. www.FormsWorkflow.com
