Description

CR-240 - SURETY BOND. This form in the Alaska District or Superior Court is used in criminal cases when a defendant, along with one or more sureties, promises to pay a specified amount of money to the State of Alaska if the defendant fails to comply with the conditions of release set by the court. This form records the defendant’s and sureties’ joint financial responsibility and provides the court with assurance that the defendant will appear in court and follow all release conditions. If the defendant complies, the bond is canceled; if not, the court may enter judgment against the defendant and sureties for the bond amount, plus costs and interest, and may issue a writ of execution against their property. Each surety must also complete an attached Surety Agreement and Affidavit to prove they are financially capable of covering the bond, listing their assets, liabilities, and exemptions. The form requires signatures before a notary or court official and approval by the judge and district attorney. AS 12.30.006-.080. Civil R. 80, Crim. R. 41. www.FormsWorkflow.com
