NORTH CAROLINA RANDOLPH COUNTY IN THE GENERAL COURT OF JUSTICE DISTRICT COURT DIVISION FILE NO. ________CVD_____________ __________________________ Plaintiff vs __________________________ Defendant PURSUANT TO N.C.G.S. 50-13.1, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN FOR THE PARTIES TO APPEAR FOR MANDATORY ORIENTATION TO CUSTODY MEDIATION: _______________________at 3:00 PM (allow up to 2 hours) Randolph County Courthouse Courtroom 3B, 3rd Floor *If you are more than 10 minutes late you will need to reschedule with the Family Court Office or your attorney. You are required to be present. DO NOT BRING your children or any other individuals not named in your custody action. No cell phones, computers or weapons are permitted in the Courthouse. No drinks, food or hats are permitted in the Courtroom. PARTIES WHO FAIL TO APPEAR FOR ORIENTATION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A $100 FINE PLUS THE COST OF EXPENSES INCURRED BY THE PARTY THAT ATTENDED ORIENTATION AS DETERMINED BY THE COURT. (FAMILY COURT RULE 5.12) The goal of the Mediation Orientation is to help parties understand the Mediation process and foster success in making custody arrangements that are in the best interest of their children. Parties have the opportunity to make informed choices and decisions about how they will parent their children. The Orientation Program lasts approximately 2 hours. Mediation provides an efficient, economical alternative to litigation for resolving custody and visitation issues that emerge following a separation and/or divorce. Attorneys and children are not included in Mediation. If either party has attended an Orientation within the previous three years, you are not required to attend Orientation. If you live outside Randolph County, please inquire about accommodations for distance. Once both parties attend Orientation, a Mediation session between the parties will be scheduled. QUESTIONS?
