L-3042 - PROTECTIVE CUSTODY WARRANT. This form issued by the Superior Court of California, County of Orange, Juvenile Court, is used to authorize law enforcement officers to take a minor into protective custody under Welfare and Institutions Code section 340. This form is typically used when the court determines—based on a declaration from the Social Services Agency—that a child is in immediate danger due to their home environment or because the child has run away from a court-ordered placement. The warrant provides identifying information about the minor, including name, date of birth, physical description, and any known aliases or addresses. The court may issue this order when a dependency petition under section 300 has already been filed or even without a petition, so long as the court finds probable cause that the child meets the criteria for removal.
