Description
Form M-706 - MASSACHUSETTS ESTATE TAX RETURN. This form is used for filing the Massachusetts Estate Tax Return for decedents who died on or after January 1, 2023. The estate tax is a transfer tax on the value of the decedent's estate before distribution to any beneficiary. For estates of decedents dying in 2023 or after, the applicable exclusion amount is $2,000,000. Future changes to the federal estate tax law have no impact on the Massachusetts estate tax. This form is necessary for estates to report the value of the decedent's assets and calculate the estate tax owed to the state. The form requires detailed information about the decedent, the estate's executor, and any attorneys involved. It includes sections to report gross estate values, deductions, and taxes computed based on the Internal Revenue Code as it existed on December 31, 2000. Executors must attach the federal estate tax return (U.S. Form 706) and any other required documentation. www.FormsWorkflow.com
