RESPONSE TO PETITION FOR DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE OR RDP. This form is used in the Oregon Circuit Court by a Respondent who wishes to formally reply to a petition for divorce or legal separation. It allows the Respondent to state which parts of the Petition they oppose and explain their reasons, and it also provides an opportunity to present counterclaims for relief not originally included in the Petition—such as requests regarding spousal or child support, division of retirement benefits, or property matters. The Respondent may also request restoration of a former legal name and ask the court for permission to relocate more than 60 miles away from the Petitioner without further notice. If applicable, the form includes options for requesting a reduction in child support based on Social Security or veterans’ benefits received by or on behalf of the children.
