APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION OF A TRADEMARK OR SERVICE MARK. The form is used to register trademarks or service marks with the South Carolina Secretary of State's Office. It allows applicants to secure exclusive rights to use their marks in commerce within the state. Applications can be submitted by mail or in person, requiring completion of the form, payment of fees (new application is $15 per class, renewal is $5 flat fee), and submission of three specimens showing the mark in use. Application fees submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office with a trademark or service mark application are not refundable, as provided under S.C. Code §39-15-1185.
