The engineer shall keep and maintain a constant and vigilant lookout along the track ahead of the engine while moving within the corporate limits of a city, town, or village and shall exercise due care in controlling the movements of the engine or train so as to avoid injuring persons or property that may be on the crossing or within fifty feet of the crossing on the line of the railway and shall observe any ordinance of the city, town, or village regulating the speed at which railroad trains may run.
