Business Corporation and partnership names can be reserved for 120 days by filing an application for reservation and the requisite $25 filing fee with the Secretary of State. Nonprofit Corporation, Limited Liability Company and L3C names can be reserved for sixty (60) days by filing an application for reservation and the requisite $25 filing fee with the Secretary of State. For good cause shown, two thirty (30) day extensions can be granted at no additional charge. Extension requests should be made in writing and must be received by the Secretary of State's office prior to expiration of the current reservation period. 2. Name availability can be preliminarily checked by calling the Secretary of State's office. However, telephone name searches are preliminary checks only, and should not be relied upon. Corporate names (for business corporations) must end with or include the words "Corporation", "Incorporated", or "Limited", or the abbreviation of any of these words, or may instead contain the word "Company" or the abbreviation "Co." if not immediately preceded by the word "and" or the symbol "&". Limited liability company names should contain the words "Limited Liability Company", or the abbreviation "L.L.C.", or "L.C.".
