| Q: | Why are the toolbars not loading in MS Word? |
| A: |
The toolbars will not load in MS Word if the ALN Case Profile.dot cannot be read from the Startup path of MS Word. Either the ALN Case Profile.dot does not exist in the startup folder of MS Word or the the attribute of the file has been changed to hidden. The following steps will guide you in troubleshooting the issue:
*For Word 2002 and later, use the following additional steps:
**If the file is there, right click on the file and select Properties. Go to the Attributes section and make sure the Hidden box is not checked. ***If the file is not there, in Explorer, go to the Tools menu, select Folder Options. If you are using Windows 95, 98, or NT, from the View menu, select Options... . Click the View tab and select Show hidden files and folders (Windows 2000 or XP) or Show all files (Windows 95, 98, or NT). Click OK If the ALN Case Profile.dot is displayed, right click and select Properties. Go to the Attributes section and make sure the Hidden box is not checked. ****However, if the ALN Case Profile.dot still does NOT exist, then you need to copy the file to this folder. |

| Q: | Why do I get Runtime Error 4065: The Add method or property is not availbale because this document is in another application. |
| A: |
This Runtime error occurs when attempting to autofill a form in MS Word that is launched from within Internet Explorer. This is not a supported method. For the AutoFill function to work, our Forms need to be launched by MS Word independently from the browser. To control MS Word from being launched from within the browser, perform the steps below : 1. Launch Windows Explorer. 2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options. 3. In the File Options dialog box, click the File Types tab. d. In Registered file types, click Microsoft Word Document, and then click Advanced. 4. From the Edit File Type screen, click to clear the Browse in same window check box, which toggles whether a Word document is launched outside of Internet Explorer. 5. Click OK to close the dialog boxes At this point, retry autofilling the form |
| Q: | Why do I get 'Error #: -2147024770 automation error The specified module could not be found' when attempting to autofill forms? |
| A: |
We have traced this error message to be caused by a few dll files associated with several AntiVirus programs. From our research, some AntiVirus programs leave registry entries referencing dll files associated with their program, even after they were uninstalled/ removed. As a result, when MS Word launches, the registry subkey attempts to load the dll. If it cannot find it, it displays this error message. To troubleshoot this issue, you need to go to the registry and delete the subkey that attempts to load the non-existing dll file. WARNING: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Modify the registry at your own risk. Steps:

| Q: | Why am I unable to successfully save a form to my DMS? Either it generates a bunch of error messages or it prompts me for a pssword. |
| A: |
Document Management Systems integration is commonly available for office suites such as MSOffice. They provide storage, versioning , metadata, security as well as indexing and retrieval capabilities. As such, it is very common for DMS to extract metadata from the document automatically or prompt the user to add metada prior to saving. However, our forms are password protected to safeguard against unauthorized distribution and thus, oftentimes interfere with DMS processing mechanics. As a result, attempts to save our form to your respective DMS may yield several error messages or messageboxes. Common examples of these error messages or messageboxes are:
To circumvent the issue, some settings in our registry keys can be modified to make it work with your DMS. Please call technical support for further assistance. |
| Q: | What is Runtime Error 13 : Type Mismatch? OR Why I get an error while I expand the files in the Jury Instructions? |
| A: |
This error occurs when a data field is passing a value to the field that it was not meant to represent. When logging on to the USCourtForms server, the server returns data that confirms the login has been validated. However, Norton Internet Security 2006 intercepts the data and returns a datatype that the field (dataholder) cannot interpret. As a result, 'Runtime Error 13 : Type Mismatch' error is displayed and the login procedure is not completed. Example: A field is defined to handle data that is limited to one line. However, when NIS is on, it intercepts the data, modifies it by adding additional lines and returns it to the field. Since the field was not defined to handle the returned data, it will throw the error 'Runtime Error 13 : Type Mismatch'. To circumvent the issue, this workaround is suggested: a) In NIS2006, go to Options| Norton Internet Security. b) Navigate to the Firewall tab. c) Remove port 80 from the HTTP Port List. EXCEPTION: This behavior was not observed on NIS2007 using its default settings. |

| A: |
The digital certificate for the Forms WorkFlow toolbar had expired. The referenced message appears if you had downloaded the toolbar or received an MSI prior to September 23, 2009. Recommendation: 1. Download the latest executable file from the Resources tab of www.formsworkflow.com. The Resources page also contains installation instructions and quick guides if required. If your firm has received a Forms WorkFlow MSI package from American LegalNet, please call our offices to speak with a Client Relations representative. The information below details possible scenarios and temporary fixes: Scenario No. 1: The security message appears and you cannot access the Forms WorkFlow toolbar. This scenario will occur when the Word Startup folder is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\STARTUP or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP AND the Security is set to High. Temporary Fix: Copy ALN Case Profile.dot to an alternate Startup folder (e.g., path\Documents and Settings\ user name \Application Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup). Scenario No. 2: The security message appears and you cannot access the Forms WorkFlow toolbar. This scenario will occur when the Word Startup folder is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\STARTUP or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP AND the Security is set to Very High. Temporary Fix: Copy ALN Case Profile.dot to an alternate Startup folder (e.g., path\Documents and Settings\ user name \Application Data\Microsoft\Word\Startup) and set Security to High or lower. Scenario No. 3: The security message appears and you cannot download Jury Instructions but can access the Forms WorkFlow toolbar: This scenario will occur when the Security is set to Very High, and the Startup folder is not C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\STARTUP or C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\STARTUP. Temporary Fix: Change the Security setting to High or lower. |
