FormsWorkflow Toolbar and Ribbon

Q: Why do I get "Error #: 429 activeX component can't create object" when accessing the toolbar?
A: The error is generated when the ALN.dll was not properly registered.
As a workaround, you need to manually register the dll. Below are the steps on how to manually register the dll.

  1. On the Taskbar, select Start > Run.

  2. In the Open field, type regsvr32 "< path >\NameOfFile.extension", where < path > is the directory where the file is located on your computer and NameOfFile.extension is the name of the file.

  3. For example: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\ALN Case Profile\aln.dll"

Q: Why are the toolbars not loading in MS Word?
A: The toolbars will not load in MS Word if the ALN Case Profile.dot cannot be read from the Startup path of MS Word. Either the ALN Case Profile.dot does not exist in the startup folder of MS Word or the the attribute of the file has been changed to hidden.

The following steps will guide you in troubleshooting the issue:
  1. Determine the Word Startup folder

  2. Verify if the ALN Case Profile.dot exists in the folder
You can determine where the Word Startup folder is located by using the following steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  2. On the File Locations tab, under File types, select Startup.

  3. Click Modify.
  4. If you are using Word 2000 or earlier, you can view and copy the path in the Folder name text box and paste it in the Address bar in an Exploring window, such as My Computer, to easily navigate to the folder.
*For Word 2002 and later, use the following additional steps:
  1. Click Up One Level in the Modify Location dialog box.

  2. Right-click the Startup folder, and then click Explore.

  3. **If the file is there, right click on the file and select Properties.
Go to the Attributes section and make sure the Hidden box is not checked.

***If the file is not there, in Explorer, go to the Tools menu, select Folder Options.
If you are using Windows 95, 98, or NT, from the View menu, select Options... .
Click the View tab and select Show hidden files and folders (Windows 2000 or XP) or Show all files (Windows 95, 98, or NT).
    Click OK
If the ALN Case Profile.dot is displayed, right click and select Properties.
Go to the Attributes section and make sure the Hidden box is not checked.

****However, if the ALN Case Profile.dot still does NOT exist, then you need to copy the file to this folder.

Q: Why do I get the message "Could not load an object because it is not available in this machine"?
A: This message is generated when the ALNutilities.ocx was not properly registered.
As a workaround, you need to manually register the active control component. Below are the steps on how to manually register the ocx file.
  1. On the Taskbar, select Start > Run.
  2. In the Open field, type regsvr32 "< path >\NameOfFile.extension", where < path > is the directory where the file is located on your computer and NameOfFile.extension is the name of the file.

  3. For example: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\ALN Case Profile\ALNUtilities.ocx"

Q: Why do I get the dialogbox "The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to determine how to enable macros." when downloading Jury Instructions?
A: This error occurs when the Macro Security settings in MS Word 2003 is set to Very High.

Q: Why do I get "Run-time error '5121': when downloading some forms?
A: We have traced this error to be caused by an outdated version of MSWINSCK.OCX. The version of MSWINSCK.OCX that we support is 6.01.9782. Please check with Microsoft to get the latest version of this file.

Q: Why do I get Runtime Error 4065: The Add method or property is not availbale because this document is in another application.
A: This Runtime error occurs when attempting to autofill a form in MS Word that is launched from within Internet Explorer. This is not a supported method.

For the AutoFill function to work, our Forms need to be launched by MS Word independently from the browser.

To control MS Word from being launched from within the browser, perform the steps below :

1. Launch Windows Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. In the File Options dialog box, click the File Types tab.
d. In Registered file types, click Microsoft Word Document, and then click Advanced.
4. From the Edit File Type screen, click to clear the Browse in same window check box, which toggles whether a Word document is launched outside of Internet Explorer.
5. Click OK to close the dialog boxes

At this point, retry autofilling the form

Q: Why do I get 'Error #: -2147024770 automation error The specified module could not be found' when attempting to autofill forms?
A: We have traced this error message to be caused by a few dll files associated with several AntiVirus programs.

From our research, some AntiVirus programs leave registry entries referencing dll files associated with their program, even after they were uninstalled/ removed. As a result, when MS Word launches, the registry subkey attempts to load the dll. If it cannot find it, it displays this error message.

To troubleshoot this issue, you need to go to the registry and delete the subkey that attempts to load the non-existing dll file.

WARNING: Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Modify the registry at your own risk.

Steps:
  1. Click the Start button, click Run, and type REGEDIT. Click OK.
  2. Highlight the topmost folder in the registry editor then press CTRL+F
  3. In the Look at options, check Keys, Values, Data
  4. In the Find what textbox, type 'Word.Application'
  5. Click the Find Next button
  6. Look for the subkey InprocServer32 and check the Default String value
  7. If the string value is referencing a dll file, verify that the dll exists on the system. Otherwise, delete the string value.
  8. Retry auto fill of the form.

Q: Why am I unable to successfully save a form to my DMS? Either it generates a bunch of error messages or it prompts me for a pssword.
A: Document Management Systems integration is commonly available for office suites such as MSOffice. They provide storage, versioning , metadata, security as well as indexing and retrieval capabilities. As such, it is very common for DMS to extract metadata from the document automatically or prompt the user to add metada prior to saving. However, our forms are password protected to safeguard against unauthorized distribution and thus, oftentimes interfere with DMS processing mechanics. As a result, attempts to save our form to your respective DMS may yield several error messages or messageboxes. Common examples of these error messages or messageboxes are:

  1. Error occurred - Error 3: -2147417851 Method 'Open' of object "Documents' Failed Network copy of ..... has a length of 0 bytes please try saving again
  2. Error occurred Error #: -2147023170 Automation Error The remote procedure call failed
  3. Error occurred Error #: 462 The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable
  4. Run-Time Error 5485: The password is incorrect.
  5. Form cannot be processed as it is password protected

To circumvent the issue, some settings in our registry keys can be modified to make it work with your DMS.

Please call technical support for further assistance.

Q: What is Runtime Error 13 : Type Mismatch? OR Why I get an error while I expand the files in the Jury Instructions?
A: This error occurs when a data field is passing a value to the field that it was not meant to represent.

When logging on to the USCourtForms server, the server returns data that confirms the login has been validated. However, Norton Internet Security 2006 intercepts the data and returns a datatype that the field (dataholder) cannot interpret. As a result, 'Runtime Error 13 : Type Mismatch' error is displayed and the login procedure is not completed.

Example:
A field is defined to handle data that is limited to one line. However, when NIS is on, it intercepts the data, modifies it by adding additional lines and returns it to the field. Since the field was not defined to handle the returned data, it will throw the error 'Runtime Error 13 : Type Mismatch'.

To circumvent the issue, this workaround is suggested:

a) In NIS2006, go to Options| Norton Internet Security.
b) Navigate to the Firewall tab.
c) Remove port 80 from the HTTP Port List.

EXCEPTION:
This behavior was not observed on NIS2007 using its default settings.

Q: Access to Forms Workflow Toolbar using Symantec Antivirus
A: Open Firewall Configuration
And add www.uscourtforms.com and www.forms.uscourtforms.com as trusted websites in their Firewall Configuration

Q: What is "-2146232576(80131700) Automation Error"?
A: When a Customer clicked on Locate Forms-->Search from the ToolBar and if you get "-2146232576(80131700) Automation Error"

That means that they have .NET Framework 2.0 and their system is looking for .NET Framework 1.1.

-So, first ask them if they have .NET Framework 1.1 available on their server. If not then they'll have to download .NET Framework 1.1 from microsoft website.

-When you type in www.microsoft.com on the browser window it will take you to here: http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx

-Then in the Search Box type Framework 1.1

-Then click here: Download details: .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package

-This is what you'll be able to download when you click on the Download Button:
Quick Details
File Name: dotnetfx.exe
Version: 1.1
Date Published: 4/3/2003
Language: English
Download Size: 23.1 MB

And as soon as they download and run the setup the Search Feature in the Locate Forms should start working again. They do not even need to restart their computer. The Search on Locate Forms should work right away.

Q: Why do I get "Compile Error in hidden module:frmJIAssembly?"
A: This error is generated because the value in Active X Compatibility is not 0.
As a workaround, you need to manually enter the value 0 in Active X Compatibility. Below are the steps:
1. On the Taskbar, select Start > Run
2. In the Open field, type regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Internet Explorer > ActiveX Compatibility > {3B7C8860 - D78F - 101B - B9B5 - 04021C009402) > Compatibility Flags: Value Data should be 0

Q: Why do I get this warning "This application is about to initialize ActiveX Controls that might be unsafe. If you trust the source of this document, select Yes and the control will be initialized using your document settings." when I click on Locate Forms->Search button?
A: The work around this issue is to go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VBA\Security and then change the registry to 1.

Q: Why am I receiving the message, "This file contains macros with an expired or revoked signature. Since you are running under High Security Level, these macros will be disabled" when accessing the Forms WorkFlow toolbar and/or Jury Instructions from the Forms WorkFlow toolbar?

Q: Why do I receive a macro cannot be found error when trying to use any of the buttons on the FWF ribbon / Toolbar?
A: On 8/14/12 Microsoft release MS12-060 which replaces the MSCOMCTL.ocx file with a version dated 6/6/12. This has been shown to cause issues with the Forms WorkFlow Ribbon and Toolbar. This issue will manifest itself with the following error when trying to use any of the buttons on the ribbon: "The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings."

There are 2 solutions to this issue.

Resolution 1 - For Office 2007 users only!

Open the registry (start-run-regedit) and browse to the following:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{831FDD16-0C5C-11D2-A9FC-0000F8754DA1}

Under this directory there should 2 keys. (2.0 and 2.1)
Delete the 2.0 key.
The Forms WorkFlow ribbon should be functioning normally.

Resolution 2 - The MSCOMCTL.ocx file needs to be un-registered and then re-registered.

Windows 7 and Vista users only will need to turn off "User Account Control". Go to the Control Panel - User Accounts -Change User Account Control Settings and move the slider all the way to the bottom. [Note: Windows XP users can skip this step].

Restart the computer to apply the change
From the run command (Start-Run) type in the following command to un-register the file:

(64bit) “regsvr32 c:\windows\syswow64\MSCOMCTL.OCX –u”
(32bit) “regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX –u”

Restart the Computer
When the computer restarts type the following command to re-register the file:

(64bit) “regsvr32 c:\windows\syswow64\MSCOMCTL.OCX ”
(32bit) “regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\MSCOMCTL.OCX ”

The Forms Workflow ribbon should now be functioning normally.
