CERTIFIED copy of adoptee's birth certificate that was issued after the stepparent adoption, if a new certificate was issued. Photo identification of both petitioners. Marriage license or other documents that would verify the identity of the petitioners if a name change has occurred. The State of Michigan requires a fee of $40.00 for the first and $12.00 for each additional birth certificate. Checks payable to the State of Michigan. A hearing will be scheduled to verify the identity of the parties, to verify proper notice to interested parties, to determine that the rescission is voluntary on the part of both petitioners, and the impact , if any, the rescission has on the rights of inheritance. The court will mail a Notice of Hearing by first class mail to all interested parties.
