February 22, 2002PETITIONER, FARMINGTON NM vs. RESPONDENT, FARMINGTON, NM Dear Parents: You have been referred by the Domestic Violence Commissioner to attend mediation sessionsconcerning issues of custody and time sharing of your children.This referral requires that you contact the specified mediator within a limited period of time.Participation is required by the Court. The goal of mediation is to help you to reach an acceptable agreement which will allow your childrena satisfactory relationship with both parents. More information about this process is contained inthe enclosed brochure. Also enclosed is a questionnaire which must be brought to your initial mediation appointment.Please complete the forms in as much detail as possible. THE PARTIES shall make an appointment to commence mediation by [_________________], 2002, no later than ten (10) workingdays from today, (file stamp date of this notice.) THE PARTIES shall view the videotape concerning child custody before me eting with themediator. This videotape is available for viewing at the locations show n on the enclosed list. An allegation of child abuse and/or domestic violence has been made. Prot ected mediationshall be completed within forty-five (45) days from the first meeting. The mediator shall repo rt tothe Commissioner the outcome of the mediation, and a hearing shall be set i f all of the issues havenot been resolved. The parties are individually responsible for one-half of the costs of medi ation. If either partyfails to keep an appointment with a mediator, that party will be responsible for the cost of one hou rof mediator time for each missed appointment.
