Information Sheet APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION ON THE IDAHO SUPREME COURTS LIST OF CHILD CUSTODY MEDIATORS1. Qualifications for Placement on the List of Registered Mediators To be placed on the Supreme Courts list of registered child custody mediators, the mediator must have one of the following professional credentials: A. Membership in the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) Family Section as an Advanced Practitioner Member, or other national organization with equivalent standards for membership. B. The applicant is a member of one of the following: the Idaho Judiciary; licensed member of the Idaho State Bar Association; licensed psychologist; licensed counselor; certified social worker; certified school counselor; or certified school psychologist, who, in addition to such membership, has a minimum of 40 hours of mediation training, 20 of which must be in the field of child custody mediation. C. The applicant possesses a bachelors degree together with a minimum of 60 hours of mediation training, 20 of which must be in the field of child custody mediation. At least 20 hours of the minimum mediation training program required in B above and at least 40 hours of the minimum mediation training required in C above shall consist of the training components specified in Rule 16(j)(6)(B)(iv), I.R.C.P. (attached). The areas that must be covered in the 20 hours of child custody mediation training are listed in Rule 16(j)(6)(B)(v), I.R.C.P. (attached). 2. Supporting Documentation An applicant must submit the following to be placed on a list of mediators maintained by the Supreme Court: A. The attached application; B. An affidavit of compliance executed by the applicant attesting that the applicant has fulfilled the requirement for certification;APPLICATION - Page 1 <<<<<<<<<********>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2 C. If the applicant is submitting an application on the basis of membership in a national mediation organization, as set out in 1A above (Category I on the application), a copy of the current membership certificate; D. If the applicant is submitting an application on the basis of holding one of the enumerated licenses designated in 1B above (Category II on the application), a copy of the Idaho license or certificate, together with proof of the required mediation training; E. If the applicant is submitting an application on the basis of a college degree and 60 hours of mediator training specified in 1C above (CategoryIII o n the application), a copy of the applicants degree and certified transcript of the applicants college work at an accredited college or university.3. To qualify for credit, a mediation training program must be approved by a college or university, the Idaho Mediation Association (IMA), Idaho State Bar, Idaho Supreme Court, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC), or Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR a merged organization of AFM, CREnet and SPIDR).4. To Remain on the Supreme Court List In order for a person to remain on the Supreme Courts list of child custody mediators, the mediator must acquire a minimum of 20 hours of additional mediation training by the end of every two calendar year reporting period. The two calendar year reporting period begins on January 1 of the year the mediator is placed on the list of mediators unless the mediator is listed after June 30 in which case the two year reporting period begins on January 1 of the following year. This additional training shall be in one or more of the following areas: (a) Conflict resolution theory; (b) psychological issues in separation, divorce, and family dynamics; (c) domestic violence; (d) issues and needs of children; (e) mediation process and techniques; or (f) family law, including custody and support.[August 2002]APPLICATION - Page 2<<<<<<<<<********>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3 IDAHO SUPREME COURT 451 West State Street P.O.
