Modifications: In #3, updated penalty information to read a Class G Felony punishable by a fine not to exceed $25,000 or imprisonment not to exceed 10 years, or both. Comments: 1995 Wis. Act 71 requires the court to order the respondent of a domestic abuse and child abuse injunctions, and makes discretionary in the case of harassment injunctions, to surrender their firearms during the period of the injunction. The firearms can be surrendered to the sheriff of the county in which the respondent resides, the sheriff of another county, or to a third person. This notice is used when the firearms are ordered surrendered to a third person. You may not return any firearms to this person until a judge has ordered that you may return the firearms to the person. 3. Any person who knowingly furnishes the above named person with a firearm in violation of the injunction can be charged with criminal possession of a firearm, party to a crime, in violation of 939.05(2)(b) and 941.29(2), Wisconsin Statutes, a Class G felony, punishable by a fine not to exceed $25,000 or imprisonment not to exceed 10 years, or both.
