Additional File Numbers SEX OFFENDER OR AS PERSON WHO COMMITTED CERTAIN OFFENSES AGAINST MINOR SEXUALLY VIOLENT PREDATOR SEX OFFENDER WHO IS A RECIDIVIST SEX OFFENDER WHO COMMITTED AN AGGRAVATED OFFENSE NOTIFICATION OF REQUIREMENT TO REGISTER AS (WHEN DEFENDANT DOES NOT RECEIVE ACTIVE TERM OF IMPRISONMENT) G.S. 14-208.7, 14-208.8, 14-208.21, 14-208.22 You are required to maintain registration with the sheriff of the county where you reside for a period of 30 years with an opportunity to petition in Superior Court to shorten the registration time period after 10 years, because you have been convicted of a "reportable conviction" as defined by G.S. 14-208.6(4). You are required to maintain registration with the sheriff of the county where you reside for your lifetime, because you have been convicted of an aggravated offense, you are a recidivist, or you are a sexually violent predator. G.S. 14-208.23. If you intend to move to another state, you MUST report in person to the sheriff of the county of your current residence at least 10 days before the date you intend to leave this State to establish residence in another state or jurisdiction. You can be convicted of a Class F felony (G.S. 14-208.11) if you do any of the following: Fail to register. Fail to notify the last registering sheriff of a change of address. Fail to return a verification notice as required under G.S. 14-208.9A. Forge or submit under false pretenses the information or verification notices required under Article 27A of the North Carolina General Statutes, Chapter 15A. Fail to inform the registering sheriff of enrollment or termination of enrollment as a student. Fail to inform the registering sheriff of employment at an institution of higher education or termination of employment at an institution of higher education. Fail to report in person to the sheriff's office as required. Report your intent to reside in another state or jurisdiction but remain in this State without reporting to the sheriff in this State your intent to remain in the State. Fail to notify the registering sheriff of out-of-county employment if a temporary residence is established as required under G.S. 14-208.8A. (Applies to offenses committed on or after June 1, 2007.)
