1 EMANCIPATION CHECKLIST 2 The Nevada law (N.R.S. 129.080) governing emancipation states: "Any minor who is at least 3 16 years of age, married or living apart from his or her parents or legal guardian, and who is a 4 resident of the county, may petition the District Court of that county for a decree of emancipation." 5 In keeping with this statute, if any of the answers to this questionnaire are answered in any way other than a yes, it may affect your ability to obtain emancipation though this procedure and you 6 may want to seek assistance from a private attorney. Prior to seeking assistance, fill out the 7 information sheet in the packet marked "Emancipation Information Worksheet." 8 A. I am at least 16 years of age. [_]yes [_]no 9 10 B. I am currently attending regular high school or I have been excused from attending high 12 school or I have been excused from attending high school according to Nevada law. 13 [_]yes [_]no 14 D.
