Based on the evidence presented at the hearing and the records herein, the court finds and orders as follows: I. Findings 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 The student parent(s)/guardian(s) were served with the Petition Regarding Truancy and the order setting this hearing. The student parent(s)/guardian(s) are in default. The student has failed to attend school as required in RCW 28A.225.005. Testing the student for use of controlled substances or alcohol is appropriate to the circumstances and behavior of the child and will help the child's compliance with the mandatory attendance law. The parent(s)/guardian(s) of the student violated the provisions of RCW 28A.225.010. The petitioning school district has informed the student's parent(s)/guardian(s) to analyze the causes of absences and has taken steps to eliminate or reduce the child's absences pursuant to RCW 28A.225.020. The school district's petition should be stayed for a period of _______ days to allow the school district further opportunity to intervene with the student. Order 2.1 2.2 2.3 2.4 The school district's petition is dismissed. This court assumes jurisdiction over the truancy of , student, until his/her 18th birthday. The student is ordered to attend school on a regular basis in the School District as directed by the school district and have no unexcused absences or tardies. The student is ordered to submit to testing for controlled substances or alcohol, and to abstain from unlawful use of controlled substances or alcohol and to follow the recommendations in the assessment. The parent(s)/guardian(s) are ordered to use reasonable diligence to ensure that the respondent student attends school as required by this order. A stay of these proceedings is granted until _________________ (date) and shall only be extended with permission of the court. The school district shall file with the court a written progress report by ___________________ (date within 3 months), and every ______ month(s) from the date of the first report. The report must include the following: 1) any additional unexcused absences by the youth; 2) actions taken by the school district; 3) the outcome of the actions; and 4) an update on the youth's academic status. If a report is not filed by the above date, and periodically after that date, the court may set a hearing, dismiss the petition, sanction the parties for lack of compliance, or take any other such action as the court deems appropriate. This case shall be referred to the Community Truancy Board. The truancy board shall meet with the student, parent(s)/guardian(s), and school district representative within thirty (30) days of this order and shall enter into an agreement regarding expectations and any actions necessary to address the student's truancy. If an agreement is reached between the truancy board and the parties, a copy of said agreement shall be provided to the court no later than (date).
