CASE NUMBER 3. I understand that I have a right to a confidential hearing--that is, a hearing which is closed to the public. I understand that, if I give up my right to a confidential hearing, the court will hear my case this afternoon in the presence of other minors who are also having their cases heard, as well as any adults who have come to court with them. I voluntarily give up my right to a confidential hearing. I understand that, if I do not give up my right to a confidential hearing, the court will either hear my case in private at the end of the group sessions or will set a future time and date to hear my case in private, and I will be ordered to return to court for that hearing. I understand that if I am charged with a misdemeanor, the court will appoint a lawyer to represent me if I ask for a lawyer and I cannot afford one. If after a hearing, the court decides that we can afford to pay, my parents or guardian and I will have to pay San Diego County for all or part of the cost of the lawyer's services. I understand that, if I am charged with certain Vehicle Code infractions, I may deny the charge(s) and have a trial by written declaration instead of by a personal court appearance (Veh. Code ยง 40902). I understand that, if I admit to the charge(s) against me, I will be giving up the following constitutional rights: The right to a speedy trial. The right to present evidence.
