PR2 - ORDER APPOINTING COURT INVESTIGATOR. This form is used by the Superior Court of California, County of Nevada, in guardianship proceedings involving a minor. It formally appoints either a designated court investigator or the Nevada County Human Services Agency to conduct a detailed investigation related to a petition for guardianship, a status review, or a proposed termination of an existing guardianship. The appointed investigator is tasked with preparing a comprehensive report for the court that includes a social history of both the proposed guardian and the minor, their relationship, any relevant family background, and whether the guardianship is necessary and in the best interest of the minor. The report must also address legal considerations such as compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), and if applicable, make a recommendation regarding whether custody with a parent would be detrimental to the minor. In termination cases, the report should evaluate whether ending the guardianship would serve the minor's best interest and whether continued visitation by the former guardian is appropriate.
