Description

AOC-J-900M - JUVENILE PETITION FOR EMANCIPATION. This form is used in the District Court Division of the General Court of Justice in the State of North Carolina by a minor—someone who is at least sixteen years old—seeking legal emancipation from their parents, guardians, or custodians. Emancipation is a legal process through which a juvenile is granted the status of an adult before reaching the age of majority, allowing them to make certain decisions and assume responsibilities normally reserved for adults. To initiate this process, the juvenile must have resided in North Carolina (or on federal territory within its boundaries) for at least six months prior to filing. The form requires the petitioner to provide personal information including their name, birthdate, address, and a certified copy of their birth certificate. It also asks for the names and last known addresses of the juvenile’s parents or legal guardians. The juvenile must explain their reasons for requesting emancipation and describe their plan for self-sufficiency, including how they intend to meet their living expenses. Supporting documentation, such as a verified statement of employment and income, may be attached to the petition. G.S. 7B-3500 et seq. www.FormsWorkflow.com
