Description

LASC SMCL 016 - NOTICE OF REMOTE APPEARANCES AND EXCHANGE AND SUBMISSION OF EVIDENCE PROTOCOL. This form issued by the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles is used in Small Claims cases to inform parties of their right to present evidence and participate in hearings remotely. The court strongly encourages remote appearances via LACourtConnect, which allows parties to attend hearings through audio or video at no cost. The notice outlines the procedure for submitting and exchanging evidence, emphasizing that all evidence must be uploaded to the court’s Digital Evidence System (DES) at least ten (10) days before the hearing and shared with the opposing party. Alternatively, parties may send their evidence directly to the other party using a method that ensures receipt within the same time frame. Failure to comply with the evidence submission requirements may result in the court refusing to consider the evidence. The notice also specifies that digital evidence will be purged 60 days after the hearing, while physical evidence will be destroyed unless the party provides a self-addressed, pre-paid envelope for its return. Additionally, the plaintiff is required to serve a copy of this notice, along with the Second Amended Standing Order Re: Evidence Exchange, when serving the Plaintiff’s Claim (SC-100 or SC-500).
