CC-DC-DV-018 - PETITION FOR PERMANENT PROTECTIVE ORDER (Family Law § 4-506). This form is used in the state of Maryland by a person seeking continued protection from an individual who has previously committed abuse. The form allows a Petitioner to request a Permanent Protective Order under Maryland Family Law § 4-506, provided certain legal conditions are met. It may be filed when a court has already issued an Interim, Temporary, or Final Protective Order, and the Respondent has either (1) been convicted and sentenced to at least five years in prison for the abusive act that led to the original protective order and has served at least 12 months of that sentence, or (2) committed another act of abuse during the term of the original protective order, resulting in a similar conviction and sentence. The Petitioner must be the original victim and person eligible for relief and may also request protection for other individuals—such as minor children or vulnerable adults—who were included in the original protective order.
