Description
CCLF‐A‐001 - SECURE LEAVE FORM. This form is used by attorneys in Cumberland County, North Carolina, to notify the court of secure leave or parental leave in accordance with Rule 26 of the North Carolina Rules of Practice. Secure leave allows attorneys to designate up to three weeks per calendar year for personal time away from legal proceedings, while parental leave permits up to 12 weeks within 24 weeks of the birth or adoption of a child. By submitting this form, the attorney certifies that the leave is not intended to delay any legal matter, ensures client interests are protected, and confirms that no hearings, trials, or other legal actions involving the attorney are scheduled during the requested leave period. The form must be filed at least 90 days in advance for secure leave or within a reasonable time for parental leave. It must be submitted to the appropriate court offices, depending on the cases where the attorney has entered an appearance. If a matter is scheduled during the designated leave period, the attorney is required to provide notice to the court and other parties involved.
